Dawn Marie (Brothers) Hallsted was born on May 23, 1963 to Jessie and Norma (Lewis) Brothers in Redfield, SD. Dawn spent her childhood in Doland, SD and attended Doland High School. After high school, Dawn moved to Nebraska where she started her first job as a certified nursing assistant in a nursing home. While in Nebraska, Dawn’s daughter, Misty, was born. The family then moved back to South Dakota. While in Redfield, Dawn worked many years at the South Dakota Developmental Center. Her second child, Nick, was born before the family moved to Chadron, NE, and a few years later, the family welcomed Micah.

Around 1998, Dawn and her three children made their roots in the Redfield area where she would work at Lakeside Assisted Living and the Golden Living Center. It is evident through her work in the healthcare field that Dawn was a compassionate caregiver. She loved watching television, as well as spending time with her family and her chihuahua. Dawn’s family will remember her when they do word puzzles, or when they see Native American artwork, horses, eagles, or wolves.

Dawn is survived by her children: Misty Hallsted of Redfield; Nick Hallsted of Redfield and his son, Damion; and Micah (Stephanie Hansen) Hallsted of Redfield; and her siblings: Deb (James) Wagner of Doland; Dennis Brothers of Hammond, IN; and David (Karen) Brothers of Marysville, WA.

Dawn was preceded in death by her infant twins, her parents, Jessie and Norma Brothers, and her sister-in-law, Diane Brothers.
