Kenneth Edward Winterberg, 62, of Redfield, died at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Redfield, SD on November 13, 2017. His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate. Kenneth Edward Winterberg was born in Linton, ND on December 29, 1954 to Willis and Velma (Statema) Winterberg. He spent most of his childhood in Herried, SD and graduated from Herried High School. Kenny was a jack of all trades and was happy doing just about anything. He drove cab, delivered newspapers, built bridges, and worked construction. Kenny was a simple man who enjoyed a simple life. He loved his nieces, horses, animals, and computers. Kenny will be remembered as a kind, caring, and stubborn man. He never failed to show his generous and jokester side with others. On November 9, 2017, he married his love of 10 years, Jamie Ferguson.
Kenny’s family would like to thank the staff at Redfield Care and Rehab, particularly his special friend, Heather, for their kindness and the loving care Kenny received as a resident.
Kenny is survived by his wife Jamie of Redfield; his daughter, Heather Travis of Mound City, SD; his sisters: Marian (Randy) Flitter of Groton, SD, Jean Meyer of Mankato, MN, Betty Meyer of Mankato, MN, and Shirley (Joe) Freed of Vinton, Iowa; his brothers: Richard (Kathy) Meyer of Mobridge, SD, and David (Shelia) Meyer of LuVerne, MN; his nieces, Mercedes Pekarski Yada of Redfield, and Lily Pekarski of Parker, CO; and many other nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his sister, Carol Ann Winterberg, his brothers, James and John Winterberg, and his close friend, Joy Travis.
