Jane A. (Streenz) Robertson, 91, of Redfield, SD, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Reverend Tammy Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Frankfort, SD.
Visitation will be Monday, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the Eastern Star Chapel in Redfield with an Eastern Star Service. Visitation will continue at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home. Jane Streenz was born March 13, 1926 in Aberdeen, SD to Henry and Edna (Larson) Streenz. She spent her childhood in Stickney, SD and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1944. Jane attended college in Chicago to begin her career as a secretary. On December 21, 1946, Jane married Roy M. Robertson in Chicago and they moved back to South Dakota in 1947. To this union, four children were born. Frankfort became their home in 1952 and they moved to their farm west of Frankfort in 1955 where they farmed until their retirement in 1975. Throughout her life, Jane worked in Washington D.C. with the Federal Government in the Department of Defense, at the Medical Arts Center for Dr. Perry and at the Spink County Treasurer’s office.
Jane’s faith was very important to her and she was an active member of her church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. Jane also loved playing dominos and cards with friends and family.
Jane is survived by her daughter Nancy (Roger) Carter of Frankfort and their children and grandchildren: Corey (Missy) Carter and Taryn (Zach) Engbrecht, Caitlyn Carter, Gage Carter, Carson Hirsch, and Camden Hirsch; Joann (Lance) Fliehs and Kamryn, Karsten, Braeden, Jaela Fliehs; and Jamie Carter; her son Brian (Gayle) Robertson of Watertown, SD and their children and grandchildren: Lyndsey Robertson and Wylie, Jasper and Nathan; her son Dennis (Marcie) Robertson of Redfield and their children and grandchildren: Susan Thomas and Paige and Peyton, Brenda (Chad) Cumming and Chanz, Caitlyn, Cooper; Nicole (Ron) Shultz and Mariah and Caleb; Matt Robertson, Mandy Robertson and Aiden; and Darwin (Becky) Crandall and Josiah and Zoe; and her daughter Donna (George) Genzler of Mellette, SD and their children and grandchildren: Charles Genzler and MacKenna and Logan; Mattew (Samantha Drobney) Genzler and Brookelynn and Brody; Lacy (Tyler Majerus) Storly and Landon and Brenna and Amber (Jeremy Pepper) Genzler and Trevyn and Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her brothers-in-law: James (Marion) Robertson; Jule (Carol) Robertson and Lindy Robertson and her grandson, Seth M. Robertson.
