Lonnie “Lon” LaBrie was born on April 20, 1948 in Redfield, SD to Aaron and Barbara (Sheldon) LaBrie. He was a 5th generation LaBrie to live in Doland.
Lonnie graduated from Doland High School and South Dakota State University graduating with a farm operations degree. He married Mary Leyden on August 7, 1971 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Doland, SD. They made their home in Doland for five months before moving to the farm northeast of Doland where he resided until his death.
Lon was a farmer first, but truly loved his job at Doland School as head custodian for 24 years, as well as owning and operating Prairie Pheasant Hunts for 17 years. He had a genuine love for family, friends and visiting. Anyone who sat down to visit with him became his friend.
