A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Tulare United Church in Tulare, SD. Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate. Burial will be held afterwards at St. John’s cemetery ten miles west of Tulare, SD. Arrangements are being handled by Hyke Funeral Home, Redfield, SD (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Terry L. Schultz, 70, of Sioux Falls, died May 5, 2019. He was born on February 9, 1949, in Tulare, the eldest son of Marvin and Leone (Voelker) Schultz. He was educated in the Tulare public schools, graduated from Tulare High School in 1967, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (1972).
In 1970 he was married to Peggy Nielson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Redfield, SD. Together they have two children and five grandchildren. Rochelle Schultz teaches art at Tiospa Zina Tribal School in Sisseton, and her daughters are Haleigh and Raena. Dr. Valerie (Schultz) Flynn is a dermatologist at Avera Health Systems and is married to Joseph Flynn, who is an attorney with the Minnehaha County District Attorney’s office. Their children are Traysen, Mya and Bentley.
In 1994 he was married to Becky Williamson at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Becky has three children and four grandchildren. Rachael Williamson and her son Kaden live in Chandler, AZ. Ryan Williamson and son Tosten live in Outlook, MT. Sarah (Williamson) Sieg, spouse Kellen and children Aubryn and Maddox live in Sioux Falls. Terry and Becky also enjoyed their Bichon Frise named Jesse, who passed away and new rescue pups Jackson and Ginger.
Mr. Schultz was employed by Hander Plumbing and Heating in Sioux Falls until his retirement in 2015. A favorite project was his role in designing the plumbing system for the Sioux Falls Ice Arena. He was previously employed at Plainsco in Rapid City.
In earlier years, Terry enjoyed restoring cars, on and off-road motorcycling, and hunting. He built the majority of his house in Rapid City, SD. In later years, he enjoyed attending car races, sports events with grandchildren, fishing, gardening and remodeling projects.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Schultz (2006) and his first grandchild Krause (stillborn 2007). His mother, Leone Schultz is 93-years old and lives independently in Tulare, SD. Terry’s younger brothers include Randy (Shirley), Tom (Deb), Kevin and Todd (Rebecca).
