Theresa Annette Samelson, 57, of Redfield, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd and Pastor Anna Stebbins will officiate. Burial will follow a time of lunch and fellowship at the Grace Cemetery in Rockham, SD.
Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. During this time, family will be present to accept condolences. A time of sharing will begin at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Theresa Annette Gunckel was born October 12, 1961 in Louisville, KY to Henry and Kay (Harlan) Gunckel. She attended high school in Cleveland, CA and graduated from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD.
She was very kind, compassionate, generous and had a wonderful sense of humor. Theresa studied to be a surgical nurse because she loved medicine. Her passion was to work in her garden and take care of her husband, Gene.
Theresa is survived by her husband Gene Samelson of Redfield; three children: Ryan Coe, Darren Coe and Katrina Coe, all of California; and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her parents Henry and Kay Gunckel of Simi Valley, CA; two brothers: James Gunckel of West Lake Village, CA and Steve Gunckel of Redfield; and sister Anna Stebbins of Simi Valley, CA.
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Kathy Hoff and Rhonda Gelardi.
In lieu of flowers, Theresa desired all donations directed to the Tri-County Good Samaritan Center.
