Obituary

Alan Scott Hausvik, 68, of Turton, SD, passed away January 22, 2025, at Aberdeen Health and Rehabilitation after a courageous battle of non-small lung cancer; he had been in remission for chronic lymphocytic/follicular leukemia.

His services will take place on Monday, January 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Turton.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.   His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Greg Tschakert officiating.  Following a time for lunch and fellowship in the church hall after the service, burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Conde, SD.

Alan Scott Hausvik was born December 12, 1956, in Aberdeen, SD, to Rodney and Sheila (Heath) Hausvik. He grew up in the Turton, SD area and attended school in Conde, SD.

Alan spent many years trucking across the United States until returning to the family farm near Turton. He especially enjoyed planting soybeans and delivering grain to ethanol plants and grain elevators.

Alan had a passion for trucks, keeping them well maintained, clean, and detailed. His 2019 GMC black diesel pickup and blue Peterbilt semi-truck were his favorites.

Alan spent many summers at Bob's Resort in Gettysburg, SD, fishing for walleyes and making numerous friends. He enjoyed watching western movies, watching the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and Denver Broncos.

Alan was involved in the community serving as Mayor and Fire Chief of Turton for many years.

Alan's legacy continues through those he leaves behind: his son, Scott, and daughter, Stephanie (Jarrad) Ziegeldorf, grandchildren: Brady, Tyler, and Brooks Hausvik and Khloe and Kaden Ziegeldorf, brother, Michael (Donna) Hausvik, sisters: Kristi Hausvik, Patti (Brent) Schneider, Shelli (Ryan) Felderman, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Sheila Hausvik, brother John, and grandparents: Martin and Emma (Hall) Hausvik and Steve and Christena "Tena" (King) Heath.
