Obituary

Alexi Daniel Clement, 25, of Redfield, SD, left her wheelchair at the gates of heaven and ran into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on April 2, 2021.  She was welcomed by the Angels, who were singing the most beautiful hymns she had ever heard and she began to sing along.

Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 –7:00 p.m., at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield with a time of sharing and Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.  Family will be present beginning at 5:00 p.m. to accept condolences.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield.  Reverends John Short and Tom Clement will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.  Lunch will follow at Shanty Haven in Redfield.

Masks and social distancing are recommended at the church and funeral home.  For those unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be live-streamed to the funeral home's website. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).

Alexi was born on August 17, 1995, in Aberdeen, SD, to Dan Clement and Barb (Friedrichsen) Boomsma.  She attended Redfield School graduating in 2014.

Alexi found joy in life's most simplest things like walks in the park, van rides, fishing with her dad, listening to music, and hanging out in her pool during the summer.  In 2006, Alexi had the most exciting trip of her life when she was granted a trip to Disney World as South Dakota's 600th Make A Wish Child.

Alexi is survived by her father, Dan Clement, of Redfield; her step-father and mother, Ryan and Barb Boomsma, of Redfield; her sister, Cassie Clement, of West Des Moines, Iowa, who was her best friend; she loved her sister dearly; grandparents: Delores Clement of Orient, Gerald "Mugsy" and Sandra Schaefers of Polo, Doug and Peggy Boomsma of Frankfort; and great grandmother Bernice Solheim of Redfield. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins and a special friend, Shirley Holt.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Louis Clement, great grandmother and grandfather, Martin "Mac" and Harriet Mowry, and great grandfather, Oscar Solheim.

In heaven, there are no disabilities and Alexi is now free to dance with her own legs.  Even though we will miss those dances here on earth, she is now dancing with the angels.  Until we meet again, Dolly Molly, keep singing and dancing.  One day we will all dance together again, so save the last dance for Mom.
