Alfred Stotz, 91, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His funeral will be Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Redfield. Pastor Stewart M. Lozensky will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4-6:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Alfred was born May 12, 1915 in Faulk County, SD to Christ and Lydia Stotz. He grew up in the Tolstoy area and married Leona Freida Hettich on August 25, 1938. They farmed in Faulk County until 1956 when they moved to Redfield. Leona died in 1983. Alfred worked at SDDC-Redfield, for many years, holding various positions throughout his years at the Developmental Center. He retired in 1980. Alfred married Marjorie Minnick on March 25, 1986 in Aberdeen.
He enjoyed tinkering with electronics, spending time on his computer sending e-mails to all his family and friends, camping and traveling. He was highly regarded by his many friends, co-workers and family.
Alfred is survived by his wife Marjorie Stotz of Redfield, one daughter Marietta (Leland) Foos of Montevideo, MN, a daughter-in-law Phyllis Stotz of Brookings, SD, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Walter Stotz of Aberdeen, one stepson John (Peggy) Minnick of Pierre, SD, one step daughter Cheryl (Clyde) Neff of Mandan, ND, two step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Leona, his son Ivan in 2006, two grandsons: James Stotz and Michael Dean Miller, his brother Ted and a son-in-law Darvin Miller.
Casketbearers will be Terry Staab, Brenda Stone, Dustin Stone, Jon Stotz, Jasen Stotz, Cody Stotz, Duane Burczak, Jay Whitley, and Paul Whitley. Honorary Casketbearers will be Alfred's great grandchildren and the Whitley family.
Music will be provided by Ariel Stone, Onilee Siebrecht and Penny Ihnen.
