Alice Carr, 80, of Redfield, died April 8, 2011 at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass.

Cremains burial will be held at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home with a rosary and scriptural wake service at 7:00 p.m. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)

Alice was born June 14, 1930 in Redfield, SD to William and Emma (Ochshle) Compton. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1950 and married Clinton Carr on June 6, 1953. She worked at the SDDC for several years, retiring in 1987.


Alice enjoyed ceramics, scrapbooking, Bingo,Skip Bo and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and Al-Anon.

She is survived by her children: Thomas (Joanne) Carr of Redfield; Sandra (Michael V.) Jungwirth of Athol, SD; Mark (Arlene) Carr of Trophy Club, TX; and Sonia (Kevin) Meyer of Redfield; her grandchildren: Christopher (Holly) Carr, Brent Carr, Amber (Jonathan) Saienga, David, April, Dallas, Alicyn and Autumn Jungwirth, Jessica Carr, Joseph, Rachel and Drew Meyer; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Phyllis (Ken) Pribble, Shirley (Art) Solheim, Ada Rae Christman, William (Kathy) Compton, Robert Compton and Ruth Schroeder.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael Dale; and two sisters Mary Jane Leifsen and Betty Becker.

The family requests memorials to be made to the Eastern Star Home in Alice's memory.
