Obituary

Alice E. Hardie, 90, of Redfield, SD, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Alice was born November 22, 1921 in Redfield to Carl and Maude (Benning) Corkins, the seventh of ten children. She married W.V. (Junior) Hardie on June 3, 1943 in Redfield. They farmed in the Redfield area for many years until Junior's death in 1974. Alice moved to Redfield and worked several years at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield in the bakery department. She babysat many children before she started to work at Rainbow Daycare. She became Grandma to countless children which she loved dearly. Living her whole life in Redfield, she had truly great friends as well as her family.

Alice is survived by her daughter Sandy Costello of Casper, WY; grandchildren: Richard (Erica) Costello and their children: Sage and Hunter; Jerrod (Sharla) Costello and their children: Dean and Chase; and Kenny (Gayle) Costello and their children: Tristine and Kelsy. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Emmaline Corkins and Beverlee Corkins and many nieces and nephews, friends and all the Rainbow Daycare children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1974, her son Kenny in 1989, her son-in-law Rick in 2008, her brothers and sisters: Georgia Pfister, Myrtle Brown, Ralph, Donovan, Lyle, Fern Willis, Walter, Marlyn and Joyce Corkins and her sisters-in-law Leona Heber and Ruby Gruenwald.
