Allen was born August 15, 1937, in Spink County, SD, to Lester and Ruth (Couch) Deloy. He grew up on the family farm north of Mellette and graduated from Mellette High School.

Allen married Joyce Krieger in Redfield, and to this union, four children were born. This marriage ended in divorce. He married Lynda Jaragoske and helped care for her daughter, Sheila, until Lynda passed away. He married Marney Caza, and her son, Roque joined the family. They were later divorced. He finally found the love of his life and married Marilyn Barton. They had some wonderful years together until she passed away.

Allen managed the laundry at SDDC until his retirement. He was a member of the Mellette Methodist Church and enjoyed the Senior Center in Mellette. He was a volunteer firefighter and a member of both the Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge. He liked to stay busy and always had something to do, be it a stump to grind out, a grave to dig, a deer to butcher, or a neighbor to help. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Family was very important to Allen. He loved to talk about his children and show off pictures of his grandchildren. He spent his last months at Crossroads and The Shores Care Centers in Worthington, MN, where he was closer to family. During that time, he enjoyed attending his great-grandchildren’s activities.

Allen is survived by one brother, Jim (Carolyn) Deloy of Cottonwood, AZ; his children: Tim Deloy of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Tam (Terry) Edgar of Elk Point, SD, Ted (Donna) Deloy of Baltic, SD, Teresa Edgar of Elk Point, SD, and his stepson Roque (Lynne) Caza of Yuma, AZ. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Lester Deloy; granddaughter, Tasha Edgar; siblings: Ronnie Deloy, Joanne (Garold) Nesthus, Dianne (Rollin) Kraft; and wives, Lynda and Marilyn.
