Angeline V. McCone, 91, of Long Beach, CA, died Monday, September 26, 2011 in Long Beach. Her funeral will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church in Redfield, SD. Reverend Ron Becker will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Angeline was born August 30, 1920 in Orient, SD to Charles and Flora (Stevens) Schmidt. She grew up in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School. Her first two years of college were in Cincinnati, OH and then she graduated from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. She started teaching in 1941. Angeline and Robert Clyde McCone were married in 1943. Angeline taught in South Dakota, Montana, Arizona, Michigan and California. She received her B.A. degree from Long Beach State University and her Lifetime Teaching Credential.

She was dedicated to her husband and her two children. Whether it was the ministry or the teaching field, Angeline and her husband worked side by side and were married for sixty years.

Angeline is survived by her daughter Evangeline (Steve) Pearson of Riverside, CA; and her five grandsons: Robert McCone, Ryan (Arden) Pearson, Michael McCone, Steven McCone and Aaron Pearson. She felt close to several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clyde, in 2004 and her son, Robert Clyde McCone, Jr. in 2010 and her sisters: Vera Becker, Helen Becker and Lillian Haney and two brothers: Richard Schmidt and Charles Schmidt.
