Anicetus (Ann) L. Remily, 96, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Shane Stevens celebrating the mass and Deacon Darrell Kelsey (grandson of the deceased) assisting. Lunch will be held after the service at Sacred Heart; with burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Mellette.
Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2011, from 5-7:00 p.m.at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a 7:00 p.m. scriptural wake service led by Deacon Darrell Kelsey. There will also be visitation for an hour prior to the service on Saturday.(www.thelenfuneralhome.com)
Anicetus Louise Morris, daughter of Annie (Hand) and James Morris, was born in Lawler, IA, on June 16, 1915. The family moved to a farm outside Orient, SD, where she was raised. She graduated from high school in Timberlake, SD, and the Bobette Beauty School in Aberdeen, where she met her husband.
She married Orville Remily in Orient on July 20, 1936. They lived in Aberdeen and ran the Remily Beauty School until 1942, where upon they moved to Portland, OR, for the duration of World War II. They returned to Orient in 1946 and settled in Brentford in 1947. Orville died April 9, 1982. A few years later, Ann moved from Brentford, to Redfield, and then settled in Aberdeen in 1992. Ann lived at Mother Joseph Manor since 2008.
Ann belonged to All Saints Catholic Church before joining the Sacred Heart Catholic Church congregation. Over the years, she held various leadership positions within church volunteer organizations. She also loved to dance, Twins baseball,watching Tiger Woods golf, and baking caramel rolls for her family.
Ann is survived by seven children: Gayleen (Gordon) Kelsey, of Camp Verde, AZ; Donald (Linda) Remily, of Mesa, AZ; Michael (Darlene) Remily, of Burkburnett, TX; Sister Myra Remily, of Aberdeen; Marilyn (Ron) Lochner, of Lebanon, MO; Mark (Jodi) Remily and Jenelle Remily, both of Aberdeen; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, five brothers and six sisters.
