Arthur E. Schneider, 88, of Redfield, SD, died Monday, February 1st at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His funeral will be Monday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in the Rockham Cemetery. Arthur was born October 17, 1921 in Freeman, SD to Fred and Pauline (Pheiffer) Schneider. In 1925, the family moved from Freeman to the farm southwest of Rockham. Art attended a one room country school and later graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1940. After graduation, he returned to the family farm. Art married Violet Vilhauer on September 7, 1958 in Highmore, SD. He was a lifelong farmer and lived on the family farm for seventy-six years before moving to Redfield in 2001. In later years Art enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.

He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield.

Art is survived by his wife Violet of Redfield, a daughter Carol Schneider of Watertown, SD; and a son Neal (Cleo) Schneider of Aberdeen and their children Kaleb and Dylan. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frieda and four brothers: Henry, Armin, Alfred and Kurt.
