Autumn Catherine Jungwirth, 24, of Lake Poinsett, SD and formerly of Athol, SD, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at Prairie Lakes Healthcare in Watertown, SD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield, SD.  Reverend Tom Anderson will officiate.  After the service, lunch and fellowship will be at the 4-H Exhibit Building in Redfield.  Following lunch, interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Athol.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD.  A Prayer Service and Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include a time for sharing. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).

In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials to the Ty Eschenbaum Foundation, which is a non-profit foundation that provides support to youth cancer survivors in South Dakota.

Twin sisters Alicyn Rae and Autumn Catherine were born on April 3rd, 1995 at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD completing the family of Mike and Sandy Jungwirth. They were welcomed with love by siblings Amber, David, April, and Dallas. At 2 ½ years old, big brother Dallas was already protective and wanted to know if his twin sisters were "born in the barn or did you have to move them inside?" The family grew up in the "little house" and made the move to the "big house" when Autumn was 5 years old. Autumn always had a partner in crime with her twin sister and absolute best friend, Alicyn.

She attended Redfield Public School.  At a young age, she was a fierce competitor, running the anchor leg of the winning 4 x 100-meter relay team in the 9-10 year old age division at the South Dakota State Hershey Track Meet in 2005. Autumn, Alicyn, and their teammates earned a trip to run in Hershey Pennsylvania at the National Hershey Track and Field Meet. This trip was the trip of a lifetime, which was shared with Sandy, Amber, and April as well. Autumn was an outfielder and the leadoff hitter for the Rockham Rebels Slowpitch Softball Team, playing in 6 consecutive State Tournament championship games, taking home the top honors in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2014. She was named to the all tournament team in 2012.  Autumn was the setter for the Redfield/Doland High School volleyball team, setting in the State Tournament in 2010 and 2011, earning All Northeast Conference Honors in 2013. She graduated Co-Valedictorian of the Redfield High School Class of 2014.

Autumn was the best auntie ever! Her nieces and nephews were absolute highlights in her life. She loved to FaceTime with them multiple times a week.  Her beautiful smile and personality could light up any room! Autumn loved to shop with her Mom and take four-wheeler rides with her Dad. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved to travel, drink dark coffee, exercise, rise early in the morning, and lake living. Her organizational skills and self-discipline were second to none.

She was currently a ZYIA Active Wear Sales Rep and was one of the quickest rising reps in the country - leading a team of 45 plus reps on her team.  Autumn found the perfect job that allowed her the flexibility to travel and be with family without a strict schedule. Her dream was to one day stay at home with their kids.

In the spring of 2017, Autumn found love, true love. Ty and Autumn were meant for each other and brought out the absolute best in each other. They were truly happy. She loved her time living at Lake Poinsett and was often hosting gatherings of family and friends to enjoy the lake. Their lake motto was "Time wasted at the lake is time well spent."

Autumn's generosity and final act of kindness was the gift of organ and tissue donation.  May her loving spirit live on in the lives of others.

Autumn will be so deeply missed by her parents: Mike and Sandy Jungwirth of Athol; sister Amber and Jon Saienga, Madelyn, Jack, Grace, Ida, and Ella of Miller; brother David and Margaret Jungwirth and soon to be Autumn's 9th niece or nephew of Athol; sister April and Brady Schilder, Levi and Cullen of Faulkton; brother Dallas Jungwirth and fiancé Makayla Reed of Athol; sister Alicyn and Nathan Wager and Swazey of Watertown. She is also survived by her Grandfather Clinton Carr of Redfield and Grandmother Catherine Jungwirth of Athol. Autumn was blessed to have another family-Ty Eschenbaum of Lake Poinsett; his parents Jeff and Jody Eschenbaum and their sons Sterling and Courtney Eschenbaum, Ryker and Landry; and Calder Eschenbaum and Stetson Eschenbaum all of Lake Preston.

She was preceded in death by her Grandmother Alice Carr and Grandfather Vincent Jungwirth.
