Barbara Buchholz, 90, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Redfield.
Her funeral will be Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Barbara was born March 30, 1921 to Mason and Leola (Carr) Bancroft in Redfield, SD. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1939 and married Milton Buchholz on March 11, 1940 at Webster, SD. They farmed and milked cows, southwest of Cottonwood Lake, until moving into Redfield in 1990. Barb and Milt were avid fisherman spending many days together fishing at West Whitlock for walleye, salmon and northern. They also fished all the lakes around Redfield, Tulare and Miller.
Barb enjoyed refunding with coupon and PUC labels, which she donated, the proceeds to the Wheaton Church. She also enjoyed gardening and canning.
She was a member of the Wheaton Church before it closed and First Congregational UCC Church while living in Redfield.
Barb is survived by her husband Milton of Redfield, her children: Lorry (Kristi) Buchholz of Redfield; Linda (Larry) Wink of Kingsley, IA, Mitzi (Gordon) Schroeder of Redfield and Kevin (Mary) Buchholz of Belle Fourche, SD; her grandchildren: Sharla (Blake) Duerre, Kristi (Jim) Martin, Deb (Jay) Esser, Kea Wager, Shawn (Jami) Groft, Kalena (Travis) Fast, Darcy (Gary) Bodiford, Jeff (Lori) Wink, Tracy (Jill) Schroeder, Karen (Kirk) Harrington, Derrick, Thad, Scott and Hilary Buchholz. She is also survived by thirty-five great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, and her brother Varney (Lorene) Bancroft of Murieta, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Leonard, Blain, Kenny and Carroll Wayne and two sisters: Florence Rienhart and her twin sister Beverly Scherer.
