Berwyn L. Ewing, 79, of Redfield, SD died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD. His funeral service will be Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 10:30 am at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield; SD. Pastor Stephen Perry will officiate.
Burial will be in the Turton Cemetery in Turton. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.
Memorial may be directed to the Shriners Children's Hospital, in Minneapolis, MN. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)
Berwyn was born on June 30, 1928 at Turton, SD to Dewey Sr. and Hettie (Michels) Ewing. He lived in Turton until 1934 then they moved to south of Doland, SD. He attended Doland School, graduating in 1946. Berwyn farmed for his folks and around the Doland area until 1969. Berwyn left to find work at Redmond, WA. He worked there for Western Automotive Corp. for Approximately seventeen years. While in Redmond, Berwyn met many new friends. Berwyn did a lot of ocean fishing in his spare time. Berwyn retired from Western Automotive Corp in 1987 and moved back to Doland. He made many trips to Mobridge to visit his niece Kandy and her family and to Winner, SD to visit his niece Sandy and her family. He really enjoyed being with the family and spending the holidays with them. In Doland, Berwyn spent his time playing bingo and cards with his friends. He also liked going to the Senior Center for special doings. When he started having more trouble with his arthritis, he couldn't live by himself and needed more care, then he decided to move to Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD.
Berwyn is survived by his one sister Gwyneth Jarret of Suisen City, CA,her children: Mary Jo, Stephanie, Richard Kiley, Shawn Kiley, Brian Kiley and Patrick Kiley; Dewey's "Tom" daughters:Kandy Blankartz of Mobridge, SD and Sandy Arnburg of Lenexa, KS and many great nieces and nephews
Berwyn was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Dewey Thomas Jr. and Dean.
