Bob Schultze, 55, of Tulare, SD died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Tulare. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Robert J. "Bob" Schultze was born May 20, 1952 in Tulare to Harold and Winnie (Ames) Schultze. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Tulare and graduated from Tulare High School in 1970. He attended Dakota State University for several years. Bob married Paula Garman on April 19, 1974. He spent the next six years working on the Hilkemeir farm southeast of Redfield. In 1980, they moved to the family farm southwest of Tulare.
Bob was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. He was a twenty year member of the Tulare School Board and was instrumental in the Tulare-Hitchcock Schools consolidation. He spent one year on the Hitchcock-Tulare school board until his health forced him to retire. He was very proud of his years on the board and giving back to his community. He loved his farm, woodworking, playing practical jokes and spending time with his family.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Paula of Tulare, daughters: Michelle (Jason) Murray of Sioux Falls, SD and Sara (Dan) McNeil of Redfield; sons: Matt (Skye) of Rapid City, SD and Evan (special friend Maria) of Madison, WI; nine grandchildren: Loren, Carlin, Caleb, Carsten, Cully, Cambree, Chandler, Sidney and Emma. He is also survived by three brothers: Bill (Cindy) of Columbia, SD; Doug (Nancy) of Edmund, OK; and Jim (Joan) of Rapid City; three sisters: Pat (Ed) Jacobsen of Pierre, SD; Judy (Bob) Hammond of Anoka, MN and Jean (Dean) Black of Somers, IA and numerous special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
