Obituary

Bonnie D. Haessig, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, died Thursday, June 04, 2015 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Her funeral will be Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd will offficate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.

Bonnie was born January 16, 1932 in Redfield to Carl and Flossie (Roggenthen) Appletoft. She graduated from Redfield High School and enlisted in the United States Army. Bonnie was stationed in Okinawa where she met and married James Thomas Clyatt. Bonnie and James were stationed in various Army Posts throughout the United States, they were also stationed at an Army Post in Germany. From this union 5 children were born. Bonnie moved back to Redfield in 1969 where she worked at the family business The Redfield Flower Shop and Greenhouse taking over as owner when her mother retired. After selling the Flower Shop Bonnie went back to College at the Huron Community College and earned Associates Degree in Business Administration. Bonnie then worked at various jobs until she retired due to her health.

Bonnie married Jesse Lane Haessig in Redfield on June 10, 1973. Jesse died in 1975.

Bonnie was very active in both the VFW and the American Legion while living in Redfield. Bonnie enjoyed dancing with her special friend Louis Weber, playing bingo and playing cards with her friends.
Bonnie shared her life with her children: Terry (Will) Way of Yankton, SD; Becky (Dan) Martell of Aberdeen, SD; Debbie (Ben) Marlow of Yankton, SD and David (Ann) Clyatt of Watertown, SD, 9 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great- great granddaughter, her brother Larry (Jeanne) Appletoft of Mitchell, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Flossie Appletoft, her brother Lloyd (Bud) Appletoft, her son Thomas Clyatt and her granddaughter Tammy.
