Clara Nell Jackson, 73, of Redfield, SD, formerly of Salina, KS died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, in Aberdeen, SD. A memorial service is being planned for a later date in Salina, KS. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)
Clara was born March 4, 1936, in Salina, KS to Harold and Stella (Schultz) Karr. She was raised and educated in Salina. In 1953, she married Harold Galarneau in Salina and together they lived in Kansas, Maine and New Hampshire while Harold was in the military. They settled down, back in the place they always considered home, Salina, KS.
She worked as a nurses' aide for several years, but mostly spent time with her children, taking them fishing and enjoying the things they were involved in. She truly loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life she would spend her evenings playing bingo at the many places in Salina. In 1977, she married Virgil "Doc" Jackson. Clara moved to Redfield in August of 2009, to be with her son David due to her declining health.
Clara is survived by four children: Steven Galarneau of Topeka, KS, June Janusz of McPherson, KS, Barbara Pogue of Springfield, MS and David Jackson, Redfield, SD; two step children: Dennis Jackson of Salina, KS and Joyce Teasley of Salina, KS; thirteen grandchildren, eight step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Virgil.
