Obituary

Coletta M. Galbreath, 91, of Redfield, SD, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Redfield. Mass of Christian will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-4:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Coletta was born in Madison, SD, June 17th 1921 to Julius and Lydia (Vreyens) Hartman.
Following a diagnosis of epileptic seizures, Coletta moved to the South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield on September 9, 1935. She spent her life there until moving to the halfway house in Redfield, in 1974. There she met Lelan Galbreath and on October 15, 1976 they were married. They lived most of their married life in the Heartland apartments in Redfield. After Lelan's death in 1994, Coletta stayed in the apartment until 2007, when she was moved to Lakeside Assisted Living Center and from there to Golden Living Center.

Coletta was known by most people in Redfield, and tended children for many of them.
She belonged to St. Bernard's Catholic Church and led the rosary faithfully. She also loved to sing the hymns.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Beatrice (Elmer) Larsen of Winnemucca, NV; James (Dolly) Hartman Brookings SD; Rozanne Broomhead, Patricia (Jeff) Deelstra, Judith (Richard) Nelson and Jerald (Cathy) Hartman all of Salt Lake City, UT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Roger and John.
