Obituary

Cora H. Greeno, 98, of Redfield, SD, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Redfield. Cora will be buried at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Greenlawn Cemetery followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 2-7:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Cora Amanda Haring was born December 17, 1916 in Bowdle, SD to Samuel and Amanda (LeConte) Haring. She graduated from Bowdle High School in 1934 and then attended Nettelton Commercial College. She returned to Bowdle and was employed by the Federal Land Bank. In 1937, she took a Civil Service job as Clerk-Stenographer with the Soil Conservation Service in Rapid City.

Cora married Kenneth Greeno on July 3, 1937. They lived in Custer and Gregory before moving to Redfield in 1945. Cora worked in the school lunch program from 1956-1977. She was the first State President of the American School Food Service Organization.

Cora was active in the United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, Sunday School and was a choir member well into her 80's.

Cora's top priority was her family. She loved the outdoors, all sports and church and school activities. She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing cards. She loved to cook, especially for her family.

Cora is survived by her two daughters: Vicki Dilger of Fort Collins, CO; Monni (Don) Clark of Libby, MT; her son Kenneth (Sandra) Greeno of Redfield; six grandchildren: Robb (Danielle) Dilger, Kendra (Tim) Hubbard, Kami (Craig) Price, Kurt (Kerry) Greeno, Jon Clark and Megan (Sean) Ferris. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and four great step grandchildren. Cora will be forever loved by her family and deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: LeRoy and Melvin and two sisters: Louise Jolsen and Muriel Haring.
