Obituary

Deloris E. Williamson, 82, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Doland United Methodist Church. Reverend Stephen Perry and Reverend Kris Larson will officiate. Burial will be in the Doland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Deloris was born December 13, 1927 in Andover, SD to Claude and Mabel (Feller) Ragels. She grew up in Conde and graduated from Conde High School. Deloris married Charles Williamson November 30, 1946 in Watertown. They lived most of their married life in the Doland/Ladell area. Deloris worked at various cafes before working as a cook in the Doland School before retiring. She also helped Charles in their construction business and Williamson Trucking for over forty years. She was known on the CB as "Gravel Gurdy" which after some time she grew to appreciate. After Charles died in 1985 she moved to Aberdeen and later to Redfield in 1996.

She enjoyed sewing, playing accordion and keyboard. She especially enjoyed dancing and cooking. Her family was blessed with trying out her many new recipes.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping at the VFW chicken feeds and usually made the potato salad for the feeds.

Deloris is survived by three sons: Ron (Charlotte) Williamson of Redfield; Melvin (Lynette) Williamson of Doland; and Bruce Williamson of Watertown; six grandchildren: Kevin, Jody, Jamie, Chad and Chris Williamson and Troy Burgher. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, one brother Eldon Ragels of Watertown and one sister Hattie (Norman) Sheldon of Spearfish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles in 1985, her daughter Constance Burgher-Farris in 1997 and seven brothers and sisters: Kenneth Ragels, Mildred Sheldon, Dorothy Wettstein, Darlene Lake, Harvey Ragels, DeWayne Ragels and Belva Zeck.
