Obituary



Dennis Dean Lambert, 62, of Springfield, SD, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Springfield. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Prairie Valley Cemetery in Raymond, SD.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)

Dennis Dean Lambert was born March 11, 1955 in Watertown, SD to Richard and Helen (Kohl) Lambert. Before attending junior and senior high school in Clark, SD, he attended elementary school in Raymond. After graduation from Clark High School, Dennis did custom harvesting in some southern states.

Dennis entered the U.S. Army in September of 1973. He served for 20 years before his honorable discharge. After his military retirement, he was employed by various area farmers and farmed with his brother, Joe.

He married Linda Lambert on October 6, 1990. Dennis will be remembered by his family for being loving, caring, giving, understanding, strict and a role model for his son growing up. He enjoyed beadwork, woodwork and whittling.

Dennis is survived by his son: Gus (Jennifer) Lambert of Aberdeen, SD; his grandchildren: Brittaney Luffman, Isabella Lambert and Alexsis Gearey; his brothers: Daniel (Dianna) Lambert of Watertown, SD; James (Holly) Lambert of Zell, SD and Joseph (Leslie) Lambert of Zell; his sisters: Darla (Edward) Scheer of Reidsville, NC; Donna Fortin (Russell Bau) of Redfield and Dawn Weyh of Sioux Falls, SD; and his stepchildren: Tina (Dave) Clifton; Heather Boone and Joe Boone. He is also survived by four step-grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his sister, Deborah Lambert; his nephew, Cody Fortin; his great nephew, Evan Fortin; his step-son, Fred Boone and his great Aunt Bertha.
