Visitation will be Wednesday prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with family present at 1:00 p.m.

Diane Yvonne Wagemann was born October 7, 1948 in Baldwin, Wisconsin to Arthur and Evelyn (Luken) DeLander. She grew up on the family farm in South Dakota and graduated from Murdo High School in 1967. Instead of attending college after graduation, she chose to stay at home and help raise her siblings.

She married Richard Miller and to that union, Clinton and Charles were born. Diane met Walter Wagemann in Redfield and they were married in Watertown, SD on May 19, 1984. They moved to Redfield in 1987 and then to Ashton in 1999.

Diane operated a daycare in Watertown for many years and was known for her good cooking. She enjoyed working at the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield until 2006. She then worked as a CNA at Golden Living Center in Redfield and enjoyed helping the residents there until she had to resign for medical reasons.

Diane enjoyed gardening and crafts, especially crocheting. She always looked forward to opening weekend of pheasant season which allowed her to catch up with friends from Minnesota. Walt and Diane made special memories during many wonderful trips together as well as camping in various South Dakota locations. Her collection of pigs began many years ago and family and friends helped her grow the collection to over 600. Spending time with family is what Diane loved the most. She treasured each moment spent with her family; from watching movies to celebrating holidays together.

After four years of dealing with medical issues, Diane only wanted to see a picture of her first great-grandchild. This last wish was fulfilled when Mia Marie Friskey was born the night before Diane passed away. Just hours before she died, Diane was able to see a picture of her first great-grandchild.

She will be remembered for always putting others first as well as always worrying about others. She was a loving, caring and protective wife, mother and friend. She loved children and animals and could be very strong willed when it came to those she cared about.

Diane is survived by her husband, Walter; her sons: Clinton (Laura) Wagemann of Aberdeen and their children Nathaniel, Jeremy, Isaac and Ann; Charles (Misty) Wagemann of Redfield and their children Whitney (and her daughter, Mia) and Cody. She is also survived by her brother Larry Federson of Sturgis, SD; her sister Dar (Bill) Krause of Northville, SD; her sister Joanie King of Rapid City, SD; her sister Jeanie Raaphorst of Rapid City; her brother David King of Rapid City and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Evelyn; her step-dad Clinton Shipley; one infant sister and her dog, Dolly.

Family will be present beginning at 1:00 p.m. to accept condolences.
