Obituary

Dolores Mary Decker, 93, of Redfield, died November 14, 2014 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield with a rosary starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. Dolores's ashes will be placed in a niche next to her husband's ashes in the Queen of All Saint's Mausoleum in Tucson, AZ at a later date. www.thelenfuneralhome.com


Dolores was born on January 27, 1921 in Perhman, MN, to Leo and Elizabeth (Speiser) Drahmann. She graduated high school and attended one year of business school. After WWII, she joined the Civil Service and worked in Greenland, Germany and Alaska. On April 8, 1976, she married Chauncey H. Decker. They loved spending time together during the summer at their cabin on Lake Alexander near Perhman, MN.


She worked for Pillsbury for fifteen years in Minneapolis, MN. After retirement she moved to Tucson, AZ and then to Rosewell, NM. Chauncey died in 2006. She moved to Redfield in 2012 to be closer to family.


She will be remembered for being a very devoted Catholic. She loved to visit with friends and was very caring. She liked listening to books on tape due to being blind for the last 5 years.


Dolores is survived by her step sons: Jon (Pat) Decker of Seattle, WA and Ron (Roxie) Decker of Redfield and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother Nora; her husband Chauncey; her sister Beradine; a step daughter Mona and Mona's husband Larry Retel; and a cousin Joe.
