Donald "Nut" Baumgarten, Jr., 59, of Brentford, SD, died Monday, February 11, 2013 in Mayer, MN, after a four year battle with cancer. His funeral will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brentford Congregational UCC Church. Reverend Jon Damaska will officiate. After a time for lunch and fellowship at the Brentford Legion Club, the burial will be in the Conde Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in Brentford. Donnie was born December 15, 1953 in Conde, SD to Donald and Grace (Mielke) Baumgarten. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1972 and took over the family farm and started raising Angus cattle until 2002. Donnie married Linda Rastedt in 1981 and they had a son Robert. Donnie and Robert enjoyed showing 4-H calves for many years.

Donnie enjoyed hunting and helping his neighbors.

Donnie is survived by his son Robert, his brother Allen of Henry, SD; his sisters: Rose Brethhorst and Katherine Baumgarten of Maple Plain, MN; and Lois (Myron) Taylor of Mayer, MN. He is also survived by his cousins: Rees (Bonnie) Mielke of Conde and Mark (Lynne) Mielke of Bryan, TX; many nieces and nephews and his friends and hunting buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
