Donald Owen Peterson was born in Aberdeen, SD on May 3, 1938 to George and Evelyn (Shantz) Peterson. He attended school in Northville and graduated in 1956. While in high school, he enjoyed playing baseball. After graduation, he began a lifelong career of farming; a job he truly loved. Donald also served six years in the SD National Guard. On November 13, 1965, he married Gloria Reding in Aberdeen.

When he wasn't busy on the farm, Donald loved to spend time hunting, trapping, fishing and in his younger years, bowling. He was an avid supporter of Northwestern athletics and the Redfield Dairy Queen amateur baseball team and could almost always be found in the stands cheering on the teams. He never missed a sporting event of his grandchildren and was so very proud of his family. He was also an active member of the Northwestern United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his two sons David (Sherilyn) and Daniel (Sara) both of Northville; his grandchildren: Melany (Curtis) Binger, Carly, Shelby, Evy, Megan (Will) Rozell, Jordon and Dalton; his great grandchildren: Cody and Bristol Binger. He is also survived by his brother Lyle (Donna) of Northville; special nephew and niece: Jim and Melissa Peterson and family and Diane and Dave Watson and family of Northville; as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
