Dorothy Dale Eimers, 96, of Redfield, SD passed away on March 29, 2017 at Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Gregory Frankman will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Redfield, SD.

Visitation will be on Sunday April 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Scriptural Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. , at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home. Dorothy Dale Hansen was born August 23, 1920 to Elmer and Emma (Lunstrum) Hansen, at their farm home in Redfield, SD.

Dorothy grew up on their farm and attended all eight grades in a one room school house in Lodi Township. She attended high school in Frankfort, SD, graduating with the class of 1938.

After graduation Dorothy spent three months in California with relatives.

Dorothy worked at various jobs including house work, real estate, waitress, at the Packard Hotel as a clerk, the Bus Depot, and Western Union.

Dorothy married Leo (Bud) Eimers on April 11, 1945 in Redfield, SD. To this union two sons were born, Ronald Lee and Donald Dale. Leo and Dorothy lived all their married life on the Eimers farm north of Frankfort, SD, until Leo passed away January 2, 1977. Dorothy moved to Redfield, SD on October 6, 1978.

Dorothy enjoyed working in the garden, raising chickens and helping with the farm work. Dorothy did all kinds of craft work such as knitting, crocheting and plastic canvass. She especially liked to play Bingo and cards. Dorothy was a great Minnesota Twins fan.

Dorothy was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church and Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary of Redfield, SD and a member of the Senior Center of Redfield, SD.

Dorothy leaves behind two sons: Ronald (Marlene) Eimers of Redfield, SD and Donald (Vicki) Eimers of Aberdeen, SD; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) LaBrie of Brandon, SD; Jackie (Joe) Drobny of Mina, SD; Janelle (Matt) Wegner of Nevada, IA; and John (Heidi) Eimers of Britton, SD; ten great grandchildren: Jaxon & Carter LaBrie; Brenden, Zacharey, & Kaylynn Drobny; Kaitlin & Keagan Wegner; Easton, Emersyn and Emsley Eimers; and a host of relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Emma Hansen; her husband Leo; and two brothers, Gordon and Lloyd Hansen.
