Dorothy Frankenstein, 85, of Aberdeen, SD died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.

Her funeral will be Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate.

After a time for lunch and fellowship at Leo's CafAC. the burial will be in Graceland Cemetery near Tulare, SD.

Dorothy was born January 27, 1925 in Spink County, SD to Franklin and Minnie (Buchholz) Frankenstein. After Dorothy's mother died in 1928, Dorothy lived with aunt and uncle, Laura and Will Frankenstein. From 1933 to 1978 she lived at the South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield and with her Aunt and Uncle until she moved to the Adjustment Training Center in Aberdeen. She has lived at 1109 South High since 2001.

Dorothy enjoyed latch hook, jigsaw puzzles, needlepoint, bowling, visits to the zoo and seeing the different colored cows and horses along the road as she traveled.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Ruby Tjarks of Redfield; her niece Geneva Hurlbut of Aberdeen, and her nephew Russ Woodson and family of Glen Avon, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louisa Hurlbut, her brother August Frankenstein and a niece Georgia Woodson.
