Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Sullivan was born February 25, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Marion (Hirl) Sullivan. She lived in Boston with her family, which included five brothers, until 1951.
At the age of 20, Dot made a trip to South Dakota to visit her brother Sully. While visiting she met and fell in love with a local boy; William (Billy) Rueschenberg. After a long distance romance, they were married on October 12, 1951, Columbus Day, at Saint Anthony's Parish, Allston, Massachusetts.
The City girl became a farm girl and to this union, six children were born.
Dot was an avid reader and so appreciated the Carnegie Library (Betty & Linda) who brought her books weekly.
Dot is survived by three daughters: Betty (Galen) Campbell, Redfield; Tricia Davis, Huron; Laurie Buckendahl, Redfield; one brother Joe Sullivan, Arizona and one sister-in-law, Gail (Eddie) Sullivan, Massachusetts, nineteen grand children, fourteen great grand children and one great great granddaughter.
Dot was preceded in death by a daughter Virgie in January 1996, son Danny in September 1997, son-in-law Brad in August 2000, and her husband William (Bill) in June 2002, son James (Buddy) in August 2007, her parents, four brothers and a granddaughter in 1998.
The family would like to express their thanks to North Plains Hospice and our deepest gratitude is given to Brenda, who provided mom with comfort during this time.
