Douglas W. Stickler, 43, of Doland, SD, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

His funeral will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Doland. Reverend Kris Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Doland Cemetery.

Doug was born March 3, 1970 in West Frankfort, IL to Douglas A. and Donna (Dunham) Stickler. He grew up in the Doland area and graduated from Doland High School. After graduation, he moved to Texas and attended Community College to advance his writing career. He moved to Washington and met Traci Reiff. They were married August 21, 1993 in Doland. Doug worked for the city of Doland for a short time before they moved to Florida and back to Washington. In 2004, they moved back to Doland and Doug worked in Redfield as a manager of Insource and later at South Dakota Developmental Center.

Doug enjoyed writing, X-Box, fishing, motorcycles, gunsmithing and making knifes.

Doug is survived by his wife Traci of Doland; two daughters; Kandace (Austin Reis) Stickler of Watertown; and Karrie (Matthew Woodring) Stickler of Doland; one granddaughter Aivah; his mother Donna (Carl) Scott of Jacksonville, FL; his father Douglas Stickler of Doland; his brothers: Danny (Sharon) Stickler of Jacksonville, FL and their two sons Zachary and Jacob, Marvin Mitchell of Sioux Falls, his sisters: Marnie Mitchell of Redfield and Bobbie Pat Mitchell of Sioux Falls; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his uncle Steven.
