Dwane James "Jim" Parker, 76, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, in Jerauld County, SD, following a car accident.

Jim's funeral service will be Friday, January 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate. After a time for coffee, cake and fellowship, burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Northville, SD.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. The family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to accept condolences. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Dwane James "Jim" Parker was born August 7, 1939 in Chamberlain, SD to Clifford B. and Tillie (Rohrbauck) Parker. He graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1958 and served in the US Army from 1958 through 1960. After his service, he worked for Game, Fish and Parks, Pickstown, SD, planting trees and working in various parks. In 1965, he relocated to Chelsea, SD where he worked for Farmers Union Co-op for 35 years until he retired.

Jim married Rosemary Thomas in 1987 in Brentford, SD and they moved to Redfield where they made their home. Rosemary passed away in 2005. Jim enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing, delivering Meals-on-Wheels, bingo and his Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.

Jim is survived by his two brothers: Clifford "Moe" R. (Mary Jo) Parker and John R. Parker (Christina Seifert), all of Lake Andes, SD; his sisters-in-law: Bonnie (Alan) Clemensen of Brentford, SD, Claudia (Norman) Lee of Warner, SD. and Barb Thomas of Aberdeen, SD; He is also survived by his brother-in-law Donnie Borge of Mellette, SD; his niece Suzanne (Dan) Stluka of Brookings, SD; his nephew Michael Parker and great nephew James Parker, both of Lacey, WA; his aunts: Anna Martin of Kannapolis, NC and Lorretta Rohrbauck of Piedmont, SD. He is also survived by a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosemary, his sister-in-law and his aunts and uncles.

The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
