Obituary

Edward "Bud" Dean Muellenberg, 85, and Joyce Elaine Muellenberg, 83, of Miller, SD, and both formerly of Redfield, SD, after 65 years of love, marriage, and togetherness, will have their Mass of Christian Burial together on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield.  Reverend John Short will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery following the service.  Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield has been entrusted with arrangements.  (www.hykefuneralhome.com)

Bud passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Center in Miller.  Joyce passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Center in Miller.

Edward "Bud" Dean Muellenberg was born March 6, 1936, in Zell, SD to Edward and Laura (Gueke) Muellenberg where he joined five sisters.  Bud was a successful insurance agent. He served in the SD National Guard and was on the National Rifle Team for many years. Bud loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and wheel and deal.

Joyce Elaine (Myrum) Muellenberg was born October 24, 1936, in Redfield, SD to Oliver and Alta (Weiting) Myrum. She graduated at the top of the Class of 1954 and married her high school sweetheart Edward "Bud" Muellenberg the following year. Joyce was active at St. Bernard Catholic Church, participating in the Ladies Auxiliary, CCD program, and the church choir. She also enjoyed assisting Father Robert J. Fox with promoting and running the Fatima Family Apostolate.

Survivors include their children: Deb (Chuck) Decker of Green Bay WI; Sandi Lockwood of Prescott, AZ; Tim (Barb) Muellenberg of Fort Wayne, IN; Russ (Cindy) Muellenberg of Flagstaff, AZ; and Dave (Jamie) Muellenberg of Katy, TX; 18 grandkids; many great grandkids; and nieces and nephews.

They were preceded in death by their parents, son Craig, and sisters and brothers in-law.

Many thanks to the loving caregivers at Lakeside Assisted Living in Redfield, Good Samaritan Society in Miller, and AveraCare Hospice.
