Elaine W. Haven, 98, of Turton, SD, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Manorcare Health Services in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at United Church of Christ in Brentford, SD. Reverend Jon Damsaka will officiate. Burial will be in the Mellette Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 7-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Elaine was born July 13, 1915 near Turton, SD to Fred and Della (Hendrickson) Olson. On June 25, 1938, Elaine married Maurice Haven of Turton. Elaine taught country school in Tetonka district. In 1941, Elaine and Maurice purchased the Allbee farm six and a half miles west of Turton and a quarter mile from Elaine's parents, where they raised their three children, Terry Dean, Dennis Carter, and Darlene Della.

One of her greatest enjoyments in life was square dancing. Elaine and Maurice traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Canada and even a Caribbean cruise with their dancing friends.

When seasons began to change Maurice and Elaine spent winters in Arizona enjoying new friends and the weather.

Elaine is survived by her children: Dennis (Rita) Haven of Brentford; Terry (Pam) Haven of Britton, SD; Dolly (Steve) Jankord of Fort Mill, SC; twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice in 2008, her grandson Anthony John, two great granddaughters Gracen and Maria and two sisters: Lucille Lambert and Geraldine Welch.
