Obituary

Eleanor Wandell, 97, of Gresham, OR, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Village Healthcare in Gresham. Her funeral will be Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Eleanor was born August 20, 1914 in Redfield, SD to William and Lydia (Engel) Schuermeyer. She attended Redfield Public School and graduated from Redfield High School in 1932 and then attended Aberdeen Business School. Eleanor married Albert G. Holman on May 4, 1936 in Arlington, SD. They lived in Redfield and she worked at Cass Clay Dairy and South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield. Her husband Albert died in 1962. She later married Glenn Wandell on October 24, 1965 in Redfield. She lived in Redfield until 1999 when she moved to Grersham, OR to be closer to her son and his family. She last resided at Summerplace Assisted Living in Portland, OR.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, and her many friends, old and new.

Eleanor is survived by her son Robert (Karen) Holman of Gresham, OR; daughter-in-law Kay Holman of Sioux Falls, SD, five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchilden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary and two half sisters.
