Betty Skinner was born on March 12, 1917 in Crandon, SD to Fred and Ella (Kissner) Harmening. She attended school in Crandon and later moved to Minnesota where she met John Skinner. They were married in 1939 in Huron and remained there until 1945. At that time, they moved to Redfield to take over Betty's parent's farm. Betty also worked at Solheim's V-Store for 20 years.
Betty was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a life time member of the Redfield Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed visiting her family, quilting and playing cards. Betty had a big heart and always put the needs of others before her own. She had many friends who meant the world to her and she would be there for them at a moment's notice. Betty was loved deeply by her family and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who would do anything for her family and not ask for anything in return. Her optimistic view, contentment and the sense that "everything will work out" is the greatest memory she leaves behind.
Grateful for having shared her life include her daughter Judy (Ron) Ryman, Rapid City, SD; three grandchildren: Lonny (Mattie) Ryman, LaNae (JR) Hamblet, Loren (Stephanie) Ryman, all of Rapid City, SD; five great-grandchildren: Cassie Ryman, Alec Ryman, MaRin Hamblet, Mason Ryman, Katelyn Ryman, all of Rapid City, SD; one sister Cleora (Clark) Binger Faribault, MN; a special nephew and niece, Dave and Diane Willis, who were always there for her, and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and three sisters.
