Obituary

Emilie Ruth Price of Tulare, SD went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2007 at the age of 83. She passed peacefully into her Savior's arms after suffering a stroke a few days earlier. Her funeral will be Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tulare United Church. Pastor Todd Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 7-8:00 p.m. to accept condolences at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Emilie Ruth Willett was born December 20, 1923 to George W. and Mary (Spear) Willett at her parents' home near Tulare, SD. She attended school at Tulare Public School for twelve years, graduating in 1941. She then attended college for one year at the Free Methodist College at Wessington Springs, SD and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at the Binger/Gardner School about 12 miles southwest of Tulare for the school year 1942-1943.
On December 27, 1942 she married Wesley Price of Tulare at her parents' farm home near Tulare. To this union were born ten children.

She was active in many organizations throughout her life, including the Social Hour Extension Club for which she had received a 50-year membership pin. She was a 4-H leader, clerk recorder for the Senior Nutrition Program in Tulare and served her community in many other ways. She was active in her church work and currently a member of Redfield Baptist Church. As a long time member of Bethany Bible Baptist Church of Tulare she served the Lord in many capacities over the years as Sunday School teacher, VBS director, member of the Ladies Missionary Aid and even played the piano on occasion.

She leaves many behind to mourn her passing and remember joyfully her life. These include her husband of nearly 65 years, Wesley of Tulare, SD; son Theodore (Michelle) Price of Tulare, SD; daughters: Susan (Glenn) Hines of Carpenter, SD; Nancy (Lowell) Hofer of Newton, KS; Georganne (Jim) Marable of Rio Rancho, NM; Julia (Darrell) Driskell of Hudson, CO; Rebecca (Mervin) Driskell of Tulare, SD; and Cathryn (Clinton) Paulson of Huron,SD; son Joe (Lynda) Putnam of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers: Leonard (Lavilla) Willett of Hill City, SD; and David (Suzy) Willett of Tulare, SD and one sister Marjorie (Harold) Parke of Lead, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a "Mother" to many others over the years who will also miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons: John, David, & Sidney and a daughter-in-law Barbara in 1989.
