(Schmidt) Corkins
August 10, 1918 – October 31, 2021
Emmaline Bertha (Schmidt) Corkins passed away October 31, 2021, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield, South Dakota. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Chuck Corkins will officiate. With the assistance of Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, Emmaline has been interred at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. (www.hykefuneralhome.com)
Emmaline's youthful years were spent in the Rockham, South Dakota area, where she grew up, attended country school, and later worked on the family farm with her husband, Ralph Corkins.
Emmaline and Ralph were united in marriage in Rockham. There were 3 children born to them: Esther, Eileen, and Charles.
Emmaline and Ralph farmed until 1962 at which time they moved to Redfield where both were employed until their retirement.
Emmaline is survived by her daughter Eileen (Gene) Kearney of Redfield; son Charles (Debra) Corkins of Sioux Falls, SD; stepsister Ida Hunt of Winslow, AR; sister-in-law Agnes (Marlyn) Corkins of Spearfish SD; five grandchildren: Scott and Susan Kearney, Gina Ford, Kelli and Paul Corkins; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph Corkins; father Henry Schmidt; mother Anna (Ehrich) Schmidt Neu; stepfather John Neu; infant daughter Esther; and siblings: Mildred Schmidt; Lillian (Dan) Lentz; Albert (Jean) Schmidt; Robert (Irene) Schmidt; and Arlene (Melvin) Demmer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Georgia (Urban) Pfister; Myrtle (Leo) Brown; Donald (Grace) Corkins; Lyle (Irene) Corkins; Alice (William, Jr.) Hardie; Fern (Myron Geuke) / (Dale "Whitey" Willis); Walter "Spark" (Beverly) Corkins; Marlyn (Marly) Corkins; and Joyce Corkins.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date
