Eunice Ann (Nickisch) Rude, 89, of Redfield, SD passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield.  Reverend John Short will officiate.  Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Redfield. The Mass will be live-streamed to the funeral home's website.

Eunice Ann Nickisch was born December 19, 1930, in Bowdle, SD, the only child of George and Minnie (Arbach) Nickisch.  She graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen, SD and excelled in school.  She met Arlen Rude at a dance at Wylie Park in Aberdeen, and they were married on October 1, 1949 in Aberdeen.   Together, they owned and operated Rude Transportation Co. and raised four children.

Eunice and Arlen had a wide variety of interests and thoroughly enjoyed their many adventures together.

She was a meticulous bookkeeper, she loved to gamble, and travel.  She was a collector of beautiful things and loved all creatures with four legs.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children and grandchildren:  son Regge (Kris) Rude of Redfield and their children:  Jamie Fink and her children Abbey and Gretchyn; Dietrich Rude; Meghan (Jeremy) Trautner and their children:  Avery, Nolan, Jentry; Josef Rude and his daughter Kaidence; and Maximilian Rude; son Nick (Jolene) Rude of Redfield and their children:  Nathan (Jill) Rude and their children:  Jacksan, Raena, and Jase; Travis (Stephanie) Rude and their children:  Ruby and Madi Jo; Christopher (Heather) Rude and their children: Ella, Brody, and Grady; daughter Nancy (Jerry Wetzler) Rude of Redfield; and son Brian Rude of Sioux Falls, SD and his daughter Rachel Rude.  She is also survived by her special friend, Kenny Avery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlen in 2016, daughter-in-law Shirley Rude, and granddaughter Kaylunn Rude.
