Eva Elizabeth (Frericks) Oberle, 90, of Mellette, SD, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen, SD. Her beloved husband, Frank "Ike" Oberle, died on October 15, 2023.
They will have their memorial services together at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate. Inurnment, with military honors for Ike, will take place after the service at the Mellette Cemetery in Mellette, SD. Refreshments will then be served at the Mellette Fire Department in Mellette. The family requests casual attire.

Eva Elizabeth Frericks was born May 13, 1932, to Ernest and Frances (Waldenberger) Frericks in Aberdeen. She grew up on a farm near Mellette with two sisters, Frances Ann and Ernestine. The three of them enjoyed playing with the farm animals and helping their father on the farm. Eva graduated from Mellette High School in 1956.
On January 7, 1950, Eva was united in marriage to Frank Leonard Oberle in Webster, SD, and became a mother and farm wife. She raised sheep for many years. She had a way with all the animals that she helped with. She could get a calf started on a cow when others couldn't. She helped her three sons through their years in 4-H.
Her hobbies were raising sheep, sewing, bowling, genealogy, and researching family history. Eva was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Mellette Senior Center, Mellette Cemetery Board, and the Red Hat Society.
Eva is survived by her husband of 72 years, Frank of Aberdeen; children: Leonard (Shirley Johnson) of Mellette, Morris of Lead, SD, and Stacy (Diana) of Belle Fourche, SD; numerous grandchildren; and sister Ernestine of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Frances Ann.
