Evelyn was born January 3, 1915 to August and Martha Roeber on the family farm west of Tulare, SD. Laughter, music, reading, sports and hard work were an important part of her childhood that she took into adulthood. Together with her 6 brothers and sisters they attended country school and then on to high school in Tulare, SD. Evelyn then attended Northern Teachers College (NSU) in Aberdeen, SD.
She married Willis C. Wagner on June 25th, 1943 at St. John's Church near Tulare, SD. A son, Thomas Willis joined the family on September 4th, 1945. After WWll they farmed near Cottonwood Lake and then near Athol, SD. Later, Willis moved his family to Faulkton, SD and this is where Marianne Evelyn was born on December 23, 1958. After a few years in Faulkton they again moved, this time to Redfield, SD. Throughout this time Evelyn began a long career of teaching piano and playing the organ and piano for many events including church. There are very few people in Faulkton & Spink County that have not heard Evelyn play.
Children where a very important part of Evelyn's life! She had a way of communicating with everyone, especially children. They loved to giggle and play games with her. There was never a dull moment when Evelyn was around.
Evelyn could always rise to any occasion-her quick wit and smile carried her through good and bad times.
Evelyn was proceeded in death by her husband Willis, three brothers and three sisters and a son, Gregory.
She is survived by a son Thomas Willis (Beverly), a daughter Marianne (Mark) Baumberger, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren all of Montana.
Evelyn had the opportunity to live for 100 years during some of the best times yet in our country.
