Obituary

Anna Fern Curtis, 97, of Odessa, MO, and formerly of Rockham, SD, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Odessa, MO.

Her funeral will be Friday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church in Redfield. Reverends Eric Stanley and Josh Kendrick will officiate.

Burial will be in the Rockham Cemetery. There will be a meal and fellowship, Friday, at 5:30 p.m. at the Church.

Anna Fern Parker was born April 19, 1913 in Phoenix, Arizona to Larkin and Margaret (Rouhlac) Parker. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1931.
She married Paul Gustav Gritner in 1932. They were married for three years before divorcing. They had one son, Eric Lothair Gritner, born March 19, 1933.
On September 2, 1938 she married Harold Curtis. They built a dairy farm in Tolleson, AZ and raised their son there. After Eric was grown they sold the farm and moved into Phoenix. Fern was a member of First Baptist Church of Tolleson most of her life and served as the Treasurer for several decades. She was also active in the Republican Women club.

In 1993, Fern and Harold moved to Rockham, SD and built an apartment on their granddaughter Leslie Edgar's farm. They enjoyed their return to farm life and Harold and Fern became members of the Redfield Wesleyan Church. In 1997, Harold passed away and was buried in the Rockham Cemetery. They were married for 59 years.
1n 2004 Fern moved to Odessa, MO to live with her granddaughter Kelli Stanley. In 2007, she entered New Haven Living Center and Kelli continued to visit her daily.

She is survived by four granddaughters: Stacie (Mark) Seaman of Windsor, Colorado; Kelli (Rick) Stanley of Odessa, Missouri; Leslie (Bruce) Edgar of Rockham, South Dakota; Kerri (Todd) Poole of Hutto, Texas. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, her son Eric and husband Harold.

Memorial gifts can be made in Fern's name to Redfield Wesleyan Church.
