Floyd Eugene Beardemphl, 89, of Redfield, SD, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Redfield.
His funeral will be Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship after the burial at the Ashton Community Hall.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Floyd was born June 19, 1920 in Ashton, SD to Amzi and Edith (Bymers) Beardemphl. Floyd attended rural school and married Maxine Schmidt on November 26, 1941 in Redfield. Floyd and Maxine lived on their farm near Ashton, until they retired, and moved into Ashton in 1976. They later moved to Redfield in 2007.
Floyd served on the Jefferson Township Board. He also served on the Spink County School Board during the reorganization of the district. Floyd thought of the new name of "Northwestern School District."
As a teenager Floyd enjoyed trapping, and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. Floyd and Maxine enjoyed traveling worldwide and spending their winters in the southern states.
Floyd is survived by his three daughters: Joy Ann (Richard) Christoffer of Pierre, SD; Jeannie Kay Sparks of Indianapolis, IN; and Jo Lynn (Charles) Hahler of Ashton; five grandchildren: Todd (Brandi) Christoffer, Travis (Niki) Christoffer, Heather (Joe) Hilbert, Andrea (Tim) Brady and Adam (Jennifer) Hahler and eleven great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters: Carolyn Stover of Redfield, Alice Groft of Redfield, his brother Richard (Nancy) Beardemphl Sr. of Redfield and his sister-in-law Mildred Beardemphl of Redfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine on September 2, 2008, four sisters: Edith, Frances, Lydia and Bertha and his brother Otto.
Casketbearers will be Todd and Travis Christoffer, Adam Hahler, Joe Hilbert and Tim Brady.
