Frances Lena Keller was born August 3, 1909 in Redfield, SD to John and Christina (Grossman) Keller, she lived her whole life within 16 miles of parents homestead. She was the second youngest of nine children. She grew up in the Redfield area and graduated from Redfield High School in 1928. On January 16, 1930 she married Roy Albert Jensen. Roy and Frances farmed north of Zell and lived with Roy's folks for their first 13 years of marriage. Frances milked up to 26 cows by hand, both morning and evening. She also raised big gardens and did a lot of canning. She raised chickens, and sometimes turkeys and ducks. She also helped slop the hogs, stack hay shock bundles of grain and other farm work during those years. They farmed with horses until Roy got his first tractor in 1946. They moved into town in 1969. Roy passed away in 1991. Frances has been living at the Golden Living Center since in 2007. Frances was a hard worker and always found time to help others and volunteer where needed. She rarely missed the South Dakota State Fair in Huron and never said "no" to time for fishing in area lakes or at the Missouri River.
For many years, Frances was active in her church, church circle and the hospital auxiliary. She wrote letters every week and loved to hear from everyone. She also followed Minnesota Twins baseball, read her Bible, and did word search puzzles. Much time was also spent reading western themed books by Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey. She listened to Tennessee Ernie Ford's music and enjoyed older opera music also. She was so happy to follow the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She kept a picture board in her room with the latest pictures of family and friends.
Francis is survived by her two daughters: Bonnie Felland of Moorhead, MN; her daughter Amy (Clifford) Killian of Brainerd, MN and their two daughters: Lehrenne and Talia; their son Eric (Tisha) Felland of Moorhead, MN and their daughters: Bella and Danica. Her daughter Karen Mulford of Redfield and her daughters: Heather Mulford of Minnetonka, MN and Amber (Joel Oman) Mulford of Montgomery, MN and their children Novalin and Noah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy an infant daughter Beverly Joy, two sons in law, Earl Felland and Darrell Mulford; two brothers Henry and Frederick and six sisters: Rose, Lulu, Lily, Eva, Caroline and Helen.
