Gary L. Blume, 59, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. His funeral will be Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Gary was born February 12, 1950 in Redfield to Everett and May (Masat) Blume. He grew up southeast of Redfield and graduated from Tulare High School in 1968, where he was president of the class. He farmed with his family before marrying Lois Bancroft on June 15, 1969. They had four children Sheldon, Rebecca, Shirley and Jerry. Gary farmed before moving to Redfield in 2000. He and his son, Jerry, owned and operated G & B Cattle Company and they hauled livestock in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. While living in Redfield, Gary lived with Karen Dunn and they had two sons Kyle and Kris.

Gary enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting rabbits and watching football. He enjoyed having Kyle and Kris with him while trucking, loading cattle and at the auction. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Gary is survived by his children: Sheldon Blume of Watertown, SD; Rebecca (Roger) Knott of Woodbury, MN and their daughter Madison; Shirley (Lance) Howe of Redfield and their children Jordanne and Dalton; Jerry Blume of Redfield and Chantel and Kurtis; Kyle Blume of Redfield and Kris Blume of Redfield. He is also survived by his brother Gordon (Thordys) Blume of Frankfort and his sister Gloria (John) Roos of Tulare.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
