Gary Lee Harmening, age 82, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD. Gary's committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD.  Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate. Arrangements in Redfield have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home ( www.hykefuneralhome.com ).

Gary was the first born to Howard and Irma Harmening on June 25, 1941, at Redfield, SD. After graduating from Tulare High School, he served a short stint in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Morrell as a purchasing agent. Upon his retirement, he was a short order cook at various locations.

He is survived by a sister Donna (Wayne) Matheny Leesburg, FL; and a brother, Dennis Harmening, Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Janice (sister), Debbie Harmening (sister-in-law), and two brothers-in-laws, Marvin Phillips and Robert Yarchin.
