Gay was born in Trenton, NJ to Benjamin and Jessie Mabel (Margerum) Warburton III. She graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1954 and married Harry A. Houser in Morrisville, Pa on November 3, 1956 after meeting in January, "pinned" in April, and engaged in August. Gay excelled in her position as a Presbyterian minister's wife in all the churches they served. In 1969, with three small children, she graduated from the University of North Dakota, later earning a Masters from the University of South Dakota. Her diversified career encompassed the fields of business, banking, and health care but focused on teaching for 29 years in Jasper, IN and then at the SD Developmental Center in Redfield, SD. Two years after Harry passed away in 1975, she moved to Yardley, PA and taught in the Trenton (NJ) Public School. She also enjoyed selling real estate in the Bucks County, PA area for many years. In 2011, she moved to the new Eastern Star apartments in Redfield, SD.

Celebrating her life are her children: Lorah Houser (Rich) Jankord, Tulare, SD and their children Bradley and Emma, Reed (Maria) Houser and son Alexander, Hamilton Township, NJ and Trevan (Lisa Staas) Houser, Marlton, NJ and their children Allea and Maison. She is also survived by her sister, Charl E. Warburton Blackmon, Redfield, SD and special friend James L. DeSantis, Whiting, NJ.

The family prefers no flowers and requests any memorials be given to your favorite Christian church or mission.
