Georgia Anita Demmers, 85, Redfield, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Golden Living Center in Redfield on Sunday, September 4, 2016. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Edelweiss Inn, 515 E 16th Ave, Redfield. Chaplain Chip Williams will officiate. Georgia was born October 9, 1930 in Fort Pierre, SD to Willard & Prudence (Gould) Eldridge. She married Delvin Demmers in 1949 and was the mother of five children: John, Mark, Mary Lea, Danny and Matt.

Georgia's talents were many; she was forever making something beautiful and useful out of nothing, patching up a pair of blue jeans or patching up a physical or emotional wound of anyone in need. Her incredible creativity never ceased to amaze those around her and many cherish a special gift she created just for them. She was silently intelligent, endlessly dedicated and always ready with her never ending, unexpected wit, bringing both chuckles and belly laughs to her unsuspecting audience.

Happiest on "the farm" watching others enjoy themselves, she was a mother to many; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her children's friends, her friends, her friend's children and any child, adult or animal in need of a mother. "Come as you are, whoever you are", all were welcome at "the farm" and into her heart. The memories created during her 85 years were her longest, most priceless "projects" and the greatest gift to all. She leaves her imprint on many hearts and will be forever missed.

Georgia is survived by her children: John (Mary Jane) Demmers, Lincoln, NE; Mary Lea (Chip) Williams, Clovis, CA; Danny Demmers, Sturgis, SD and Matt (Shelly) Demmers, Rapid City, SD; her daughter-in-law Debbie Demmers, Redfield; her sisters: Donna Slaathaug, Fort Pierre and Marilyn Spaid, Pierre, SD; and 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delvin; her son Mark; her sister Rae McLean.
